Permission terms
Who owns my work?
You do. These are the plain-language terms that apply when you send a prayer line, an artwork, or a peace sign to any of the three Music for Global Peace projects — World Prayer for Peace, World Mail Art for Peace, or Peace From East.
- It is your workYou confirm that it is your own work, or that you have the right to share it.
- You keep ownershipYour work stays yours. This permission is not exclusive, so you can still use your own work anywhere else.
- Our permission to use itYou give Music for Global Peace permission, free of charge, worldwide and with no end date, to use, copy, edit, translate, adapt, publish and share your work in any form and any media.
- Where it may appearThe project videos, this website, YouTube, and the archive and promotion of Music for Global Peace.
- CreditIn World Prayer for Peace and World Mail Art for Peace you will be credited by name and country. Peace From East is anonymous, with no credits.
- Editing and final decisionsMusic for Global Peace has the right to edit a submission, only if needed and when it helps the project, for example to shorten a prayer line for length, translate it, or crop or resize an artwork. We keep the spirit of your words and your work, and final decisions rest with Music for Global Peace.
- TestimonialsIf you share your thoughts about the project in a form, the team may publish them as a testimonial, with your name, country and organization, if the team decides to.
- No paymentNo payment is made for any use, and taking part is free.
- Artworks are not returnedMail art that is sent by post is kept and not returned.
- Peace From East — videos of peopleIf you send a video of yourself raising a peace sign for Peace From East, you confirm that you are the person in the video, or that you have permission from everyone who appears in it. If the video includes a child under 18, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian, or that you have the parent or guardian’s permission to share it. The video may appear in the annual Peace From East video, on this website, on YouTube, and in the archive and promotion of Music for Global Peace. No names or credits appear in the video — it is anonymous by design, because it is a message of peace from the people of the East to the entire world. Your name is kept for our records only, never published. You keep ownership of your work.
